Student Dương Văn Lộc - Faculty of Computer Science, Class 17, presented at the conference “VisionAI in Industry 4.0” - Technology for automation and artificial intelligence in the context of Industry 4.0.
The seminar organised by Hanoi University of Industry in collaboration with VinFuture Foundation took place on 03/12, aiming to promote scientific research activities within the HaUI community and to introduce the latest pioneering research from leading scientific institutions worldwide in the field of computer vision and AI.

Scientific Workshop “VisionAI in Industry 4.0” - Technology for Automation and Artificial Intelligence in the Era of Industry 4.0
At the conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Dong - Vice President of Hanoi University of Industry, Head of the Organising Committee, emphasised the strong commitment of the University to high-quality scientific research, particularly in cutting-edge fields such as artificial intelligence and robotics. HaUI is committed to creating an innovative learning environment, connecting research with practical applications, thereby contributing to the sustainable development of the digital economy and Industry 4.0 of the country.

The seminar featured Prof. Dr. Đỗ Ngọc Minh - Deputy Dean of VinUni University, a lecturer in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, who presented an important discussion focusing on the strategic role of VisionAI in optimising manufacturing processes. The professor highlighted that VisionAI is a powerful analytical tool, which simultaneously serves as a strategic lever to enhance production efficiency and improve the quality of life.
The analysis by the professor indicates that the global production sector is undergoing rapid transformation. Vietnam must confront the significant challenge of enhancing production capacity and efficiency to increase its contribution to the global supply chain, rather than merely relying on cheap labour, a factor that will no longer be sustainable in the long term.

According to Professor Dr. Đỗ Ngọc Minh, the two main solutions to enhance the competitive capacity of the Vietnamese manufacturing industry are Digital Transformation/Process Optimisation and Automation. The VisionAI technology can directly assist in solving these two critical issues: Quality Control and Production Process Optimisation.
In the global VisionAI sector, over 30% of total investment in AI is allocated to the manufacturing industry, with approximately 26% dedicated to Manufacturing. The research directions presented include:
- Metrology Automation: Utilising computing devices to automate the monitoring of product quality with a very high level of accuracy (for example: down to micrometres), replacing traditional inspection processes.
- Digital Twin: Building a model to simulate the physical environment and lighting of the production line. This allows manufacturers (high-mix manufacturing) to optimise the automation of camera system setup and Smart Lighting for each new product, reducing downtime and costs compared to traditional setup methods.
The scientific workshop “VisionAI in Industry 4.0” - The technology of vision and artificial intelligence in the context of Industry 4.0 has created a platform for quality academic exchange, where researchers can collaborate, seek cooperative research opportunities in related fields such as Digital Twin, IoT, and Manufacturing to enhance research capacity, and accompany Vietnamese and international enterprises in the journey of digital transformation in the industrial sector.
